Ever take a step back to look at your business and you realize how great it is? How different it comes off? Somewhere within the same mindspace you realize you do not have a presence to even shout this to the world. So, that’s what you do. You hop on 3 social media networks to build a page for you big business… but it’s a lot harder than showing up.
Many business owners feel this way...even myself. They say if the content is fun and cool then YOUR people should flock to it but, that’s not how it goes. Now the multi-million dollar question is: how can you make this work? Answer: Social Media Manager Don’t roll your eyes just yet. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people saying “I can be your social media manager…” and I know there has been at least a hundred trying to contact you. I get it! The reality is, you need one, so I am making it my responsibility to educate you on the manager that will make or break your business in the digital age of your business. In Q&A format let’s look into the social media manager and your business. Q: what should a social media manager (SMM) do? A: they manage all parts of your social media page including engagement and building your audience. When building our agency we noticed people were calling themselves SMM but would only be identified as glorified posters. Any business owner can post but engagement takes 12-40 hours a week to build a possible customer base. Q: what role should a SMM play in my business? A: These are people creating the tone to millions online. A SMM should be able to create an ego for your business. The biggest example is the Wendy’s twitter account. It creates so much buzz by having a witty voice behind it that keeps people engaged with the brand. However, it does not disturb or distort the brand owner’s reputation or how people view the corporate behind the brand. Social Media Managers should create an atmosphere that people virtually visit time and time again. need a social media manager and a marketing team that won't cost thousands per month? See what we can do for you! Q: Can I train my SMM or do they have their own experience? A: Many will have their own experience. It is always a good idea to understand their experience and if you may need what they have or a little more. You should always glare over do’s & don’ts of your business to your dedicated SMM. If you understand social media enough to train someone how to do it, then I would highly suggest taking the time to train. If you do not understand or do not have the time to train then the suggestion is to hire one with experience. Q: I like to work with my social media manager on-site, I can never find quality near me, what should I do? A: most social media managers should be able to work off site unless they are capturing content. If you want a full service social media manager like this it will cost you $45,000-$200,000 a year. If you can afford those ranges then let people near you know your offer. However, if you do not have thousands of dollars to invest in one you may need to adjust your criteria, location base being the first adjustment. SMM do need content to post but you are really hiring them for engagement purposes. Engagement can be done remotely and you will have the benefit of adding them as a contractor in your business and not an employee. Weigh your options of what you want your SMM to do and your budget. Q: What qualities should I look for when it comes down to a SMM? A: Trustworthy and ethical. You want someone who you can trust with a password and can get the job done. Most likely your SMM will be remotely working, you want the results and that’s what you want to trust them with. need a social media manager and a marketing team that won't cost thousands per month?
